The canang sari is one of the daily offerings made by the Balinese Hindus to thank the Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, it consists of a tray of palm leaves where some leaves of betel, lime, gamber, prestige, tobacco and walnuts are placed in the center. Above these are placed 4 flowers arranged in a specific direction. Each direction symbolizes a Hindu god. The canang is completed by placing above the canang a quantity of kepeng (the coin) or paper money, which is said to constitute the essence (the "sari") of the offering.
