09/03/20 WELCOME TO LAPLAND (- / - / D)

We will welcome you at the airport in Kemi-Tornio (KEM). Transfer by private vehicle to your rustic hotel, located in the hamlet of Kukkola, on the Swedish bank of the river Tornio. During the tour you will stay in rustic hotel rooms with private facilities in the Kukkolaforsen facility, managed with energy and sympathy by the brothers Johannah and Mathias Spolander. The rooms have a balcony overlooking the rapids of the river Tornio, a toilet with shower, and two twin beds or a double bed. Two of the bedrooms are equipped for disabled access.
Upon arrival we will have a typical dinner, during which our escort will show you the travel program, and will be at your disposal for any questions. After dinner, if conditions permit, you can go out in the surroundings of the structure in search of northern lights. The observation of the phenomenon is possible without bus transfers as the light pollution in the area is low.

04/09/20 CULTURE AND FISHERMEN (B / - / D)

Breakfast. In the morning, we will dedicate ourselves to exploring the fishing village of Kukkolaforsen, reachable on foot and perfectly preserved and located on the shore of the longest rapids in the Nordic countries. We will tell you how people lived in these areas before the advent of technology. You will then have the opportunity to learn how to make bread in the traditional Lappish way, on the fire, and to enjoy the excellent brewed coffee, sitting around the fire in an unrepeatable atmosphere. In the afternoon you will have free time with the possibility of photo sessions in the surroundings or relax. The dinner, based on typical ingredients, will be served in the resort's restaurant, award-winning and lovingly managed by Mrs. Margit Spolander, author of two books that report the ancient recipes of the Val di Tornio (books can be purchased in the souvenir shop of which the restaurant is equipped with). In the evening, possibility of observing the sunrise in the surroundings of your hotel.

3° giorno

05/09/20 HUSKY FARM DAY (B / - / D)

After breakfast, we will move to the Old Pine Lodge husky farm: today we will spend a whole day with the huskies, the most famous animals of the arctic areas! Being the result of repeated crossings between wolves, "dogs" derived from wolves and other wolves, it can be said that the Siberian husky has 99% of wolf blood: but don't worry! They are friendly and docile! We will visit the husky farm, where the breeder will tell us more about these animals and take a walk with them in the forest while enjoying a light snack and a hot drink in the kota.
Return to your facility where dinner will be served. Possibility of observing the Northern Lights if weather conditions permit.

4° giorno

06/09/20 NATURE AND CITY (B / - / D)

After breakfast, we will be able to visit the city of Tornio, one of the main centers of the Finnish Lapland region and part of a single cross-border urban center together with the Swedish city of Haparanda with which it borders. Noteworthy are the churches of Tornio and Alatornio, dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries respectively. Weather permitting, we will be able to visit some scenic places in the area, easily accessible by car, such as the island of Seskarö or the oasis of Alkunkarinlahti, an important nesting site for arctic birdlife. Return to the hotel and the grilled whitefish dinner (unique and traditional method of preparation) will be served in a typical kota on the bank of the river Tornio. Return to the hotel.

5° giorno

07/09/20 ROVANIEMI (B / - / D)

After breakfast, transfer to Rovaniemi (about 2h). You will have the opportunity to freely visit the village of Santa Claus, meet Santa Claus and take a souvenir photo with him (souvenir not included in the tour price). Next we will visit the Arktikum, science museum where you can learn and learn more about the Arctic land. Return to the hotel where we will end the day in style with a dinner and a sauna, including a hot tub (hot tub from where you can observe the immense panorama of the Val di Tornio): bring your swimsuit! Typical buffet dinner served in the sauna rooms, followed by a sunrise observation session, conditions permitting.

08/09/20 OVERVIEWS AND SHAMAN RITES (B / - / D)

Transfer by private vehicle to Juoksenki, a town crossed by the Polar Circle. Here you can take a souvenir photo in front of the iconic monument. Afterwards we will visit the picturesque rapids of Kattila and the Aavasaksa hill, from which you can enjoy an exceptional panorama over the Val di Tornio. Here you can take a short and light trek along the Kaiser route. In the afternoon we will visit an authentic traditional Lappish souvenir factory, where you can make your kuksa (optional activity, subject to a surcharge), the typical wooden cup that will remain yours for life, starting from a birch knot . In the evening, we will approach the millennial shamanic culture of Lapland. After gathering around the fire, the shaman will read the message that transmits the energy that is released from our body. The experience is intense and positive - the best way to end your holiday in Lapland! Dinner will be served at the renowned restaurant of the Hulkoffgården farmhouse, where chef Kurt and his wife Pia will welcome you.
