To get to know Sydney, you will start from the famous Opera House, walking along the bay until you reach the botanical garden, majestic and relaxing. Then we will continue to Circular Quay, where you can reach the underwater aquarium of Darling Harbor (you will see giant manta rays swaying on your head!) Or the Taronga Zoo, where you can observe all the most unusual animal species that inhabit Australia. Another beautiful and vital area is the historic area of the Rocks, which once was a British colonial warehouses and now it is renovated and transformed into an attraction and entertainment area: jugglers, musicians and street artists cheer the passers. For lunch, we recommend the Fish Market in Darling Harbor, where you can choose the fish steak you prefer and watch it cook in front of your eyes. For dinner, instead, we recommend the excellent fish dishes at the Rocks' Waterfront Restaurant, where you will have, as a backdrop, the illuminated bay, a truly breathtaking view. Doyle's in Watson Bay is also an excellent seafood restaurant, one of the oldest in Sydney. Last gem: a nice panoramic seaplane flight over the city or, last thrill, a walk on the arches of Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Melbourne is rightly called the "city of gardens": you can't miss the Botanic Garden and Fitzroy Park, the (now rebuilt) birthplace of the legendary Captain Cook, rebuilt bringing piece by piece from the old England. As never before, in these green oases you will experience the feeling of tranquility and relaxation that distinguishes the Australian lifestyle, where nature and sporting activities are an integral part of everyone's genetic heritage. A must for shopping is Queens Victoria Market, a market open every day at different times. The central streets for classic shopping are Bourke, Elisabeth and Swanson Street, which are much more expensive than the Queens market. We also recommend a visit to St. Kilda, situated along the road of the same name, a very pretty seaside town with typical shops, walks and restaurants. Small curiosity: the first Australian pizzeria, Toto's Pizza, was opened in Melbourne, in the heart of the Italian district. If you want to visit the elegant neighborhoods and the local Montenapoleone, go to the Toorak district, in the Victoria Avenue, Albert Park and Chappel Street area. For the evening, a walk along the river to the casino is recommended, even for those who do not like gambling. There is a room dedicated to water and light games, to the rhythm of new age music, which can enchant adults and children for hours! A fundamental excursion is that to Phillip Island, where you can see koalas and above all the cute penguins returning to the nests in the evening, exhausted by long searches for food.

Today we travel on the Great Ocean Road walking through the history of fishing villages, seaports and natural attractions of this stretch of the Australian coast. Universally famous for its spectacular views, the Great Ocean Road stretches over 240 kilometers, from Torquay to Allansford, near Warrnambool, and is in fact an entire area that embraces not only the coast but also areas of the immediate inland.
From Melbourne follow the signs for Lorne, a small tourist center on the coast; continuing along the scenic coastal road you will reach Apollo Bay (40 km, about 1 hour), a picturesque fishing town.

After Apollo Bay, the road departs from the coast to go through Otway National Park (20 km, about 20 minutes) inside which there is the oldest lighthouse in Australia. The Fly Tree Top Walk stretches through the peaks of the rainforest, a path of 600 meters long walkways suspended at 25 meters high and equipped with a panoramic position at 45 meters high which allows you to admire from above the luxuriant nature of the park.
The 120 kilometers between Moonlight Head and Port Fairy are known by the name of Shipwreck Coast, since over 80 ships sank in this stretch of sea in the 40 years between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. The remains of some of these ships, including Loch Ard, are exhibited in the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum in Warrnambool.
The most photographed part of the Great Ocean Road is part of Port Campbell National Park, where high rocky cliffs dominate the rushing waters. Among the various attractions, do not miss the stacks of the "Twelve Apostles", the "London Bridge" and "The Grotto". Furthermore, from the various panoramic terraces, you can observe the whole area from above and even taking part in a helicopter excursion.
At a short distance from these rock formations, there is the colorful village of Port Campbell, where you can enjoy a coffee in one of the bars overlooking the sea before continuing in the direction of Warrnambool. Here we have the opportunity to make a last short stop in Peterborough before leaving the coast for the short stretch that will take us back to the sea in Warrnambool.
Before leaving, visit Flagstaff Hill with its maritime museum and village dating back to the late 1800s.
Passing Port Fairy, the last city of the Great Ocean Road, continue along the coastal scenic road until you reach Portland (100 Km, 1 h and 30 min). Founded in 1834, it was Victoria's first European settlement and has a large number of historic buildings. Here, you can try to spot whales in case you weren't lucky enough to see it in Warrnambool, and then you can visit the Marine Discovery Center or explore the town on the tram that connects all the main tourist attractions.

From here, leave the coast towards Hamilton and once in Heywood, take again the Princess Highway which will lead you to Mount Gambier. There are three volcanic craters in Mount Gambier, two of which today are lakes. Do not miss the opportunity to take the 3.6 km panoramic path that stretches around the Blue Lake, a beautiful lake whose name derives from the intense blue color of its waters.

Departure towards Robe, an enchanting coastal village. Do not miss a walk to the marina, perhaps at sunset, and along the beautiful beach. There are numerous restaurants that cook the most diverse dishes: from delicious local fish to the more prosaic Chinese dish or pizza.
Restart along the spectacular lagoon area of the Coorongs. Once in Meningie, you will reach Wellington from where the car ferry will take you over the Murray River.
At this point continue towards Strathalbyn, Mt Compass and Myponga. The scenery is purely hilly and wooded with the road full of twists and turns. The last stop is Cape Jervis.
Board the booked car on the ferry that will transfer you to Kangaroo Island.

Today you will have a full day to explore the island and move to the south where you will spend the night.

KANGAROO ISLAND
Kangaroo Island is a truly spectacular place, where you can find cliffs overlooking the stormy sea, quiet beaches, a bright blue ocean, vast eucalyptus forest formations, protected bays and hidden coves. But do not be fooled by the size: in fact, although it looks like an island close to the great Australia, Kangaroo Island is as big as the Aosta Valley and therefore needs time to be visited well. Not only do the echidnas, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and penguins live all over the island, but these creatures are also easily disposed to approach, for a memorable experience of close contact with nature.
A visit to South Australia cannot be complete unless you spend a few days on the island. If you stay at the Ozone Seafront in Kingskote, remember that in the evening the guided walking tour to observe the penguin colony starts right in front of the hotel and, behind the hotel, there is a local restaurant called Bella that worths a visit but remember that you have to go there at most at 8 p.m. Kangaroo Island is a park island and there are several natural parks. Depending on the days, some parks or others will be visited.

SEAL BAY
The most popular attraction on Kangaroo Island is the Seal Bay Nature Park on the south coast of the island. It is a place of permanent settlement for a colony of about 500 rare Australian sea lions. An important detail, this colony represents approximately 10% of the entire world population of this species. Seal Bay sea lions have no problem accepting the presence of people on their beach, and tours led by Park Rangers ensure as close as possible a meeting with these great creatures. At the top of the walk on wooden platforms there is an excellent information center that allows you to deepen your knowledge of these animals.

FLINDERS CHASE
Kangaroo Island has 18 National and Natural Parks dedicated to safeguarding its rare flora and fauna. The largest in extension is the Flinders Chase National Park, which covers the most western part of the island with its pristine forests and prairies. The rocky coastline is spectacular and the acacias, banksias and tea-trees grow just behind enclosed coves. The area is a true paradise for many seals, sea lions, sea eagles, birds with plumes and numerous other varieties of flora and fauna. The inner part of the park sees the predominance of eucalyptus forests, a place of refuge for a series of animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, opossums, echidnas, goannas and platypuses. Koalas are also very numerous on the island, which is one of the few places in Australia where visitors can admire them in their habitat.

THE REMARKABLE ROCKS AND THE ADMIRAL'S ARCH
The maritime environment of Kangaroo Island was the main architect of its landforms. Nowhere else are there such demonstrations as the bizarre natural sculptures of the Remarkable Rocks. These massive granite formations stand high on a promontory with their twisted and curious excavations, created by thousands of years of wind, rain and splashes from the waves. The Remarkable Rocks are one of the most photographed representations of the island and are a real wonder for geology students. Another natural icon of Kangaroo Island is the Admiral's Arch at Cape du Couedic. This rocky arch, chiseled by the elements, rises above a kind of natural coastal auditorium which constitutes a refuge area for the New Zealand sea lions, who fish in the surrounding waters and then rest on the surrounding rocks.
A visit to Kangaroo Island cannot be complete without admiring the little penguins building their nests on the sandy hills and rocky headlands near Penneshaw and Kingscote. Unique among the species that reproduces in Australian waters, these cute penguins wait until sunset before returning to the shore. Guided tours take place every night in Kingscote and Penneshaw. They are held after dark when the penguins return to their settlements after fishing in the sea.

Diving into the waters of Kangaroo Island offers some of the most temperate waters in which to dive in all of Australia. There are multi-colored coral reefs just below the water level and rocky barriers where an undisturbed marine ecosystem can be observed. The underwater life is lively and the pristine waters are rich in fish such as the Blue Devil, the Harlequin, the Coral Fish and the elusive Leafy Sea Dragon. There are more than 80 places where shipwrecks have been scattered all around the island, in many of which you can still see the remains of boats off the beaches.

At Kelly Hill Natural Park, a collection of caverns reveals an underground labyrinth. The caves and limestone excavations contain various series of stalagmite, stalactite and other concretions formations.

Kangaroo Island has some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, ideal for swimming, surfing, observing nature or simply relaxing. The convoluted south coast of the island offers spectacular unspoiled sandy beaches such as Vivonne Bay and D'Estress Bay, while the north coast has a number of beaches for safe swimming, such as Emu Bay, Browns Beach and American Beach .

Little Sahara is an area of spectacular white sand dunes, surrounded by the typical bush vegetation, near the coast south of the island. Climbing the dunes is really worthwhile to enjoy spectacular views along the entire sand and desert area.

The island offers magnificent food products including free-range poultry, honey and 'marron', a delicious freshwater crustacean. There are flocks of sheep that daily produce fine cheeses and yogurt, and a eucalyptus distillery. In addition, excellent wine is produced on Kangaroo Island and the two most renowned areas are Dudley Wines near Pennashaw and Two Wheeler Creek Wines in the center of the island, near Andermel Marron.

During the day, reach Penneshaw again to board the ferry that will take you back to Cape Jervis. From here continue north towards Adelaide.

ADELAIDE
Quiet and majestic city with a decidedly European taste, Adelaide is the capital of South Australia. The central shopping area par excellence is Rundle Street, but it is also worth taking a tour in the side galleries with a very beautiful and retro style. There is a free bus system that goes around the central area.
If, on the other hand, you want to take a beautiful walk, start from North Terrace and follow it to the end, where you will find the South Australian Museum that you have to visit absolutely; then the botanical gardens of great beauty that lead you directly to the Wine Museum. Leaving the Wine Museum, cross the street and you will find yourself on the East Terrace, with small places to taste the oysters and, around the corner, you will find Rundle Street. The buildings of greatest interest are the Festival Center, Parliament House, the Casino, the Art Gallery Of South Australia, the South Australian Museum and Ayers House. The town of Glenelg on the coast is definitely worth a visit. You can get there by reaching Victoria Square and taking the old and picturesque tram that takes you to your destination in about 20 minutes: a pretty seaside town with shops often less expensive than Adelaide and a nice walk along the beach, where you can stop for a break in one of the many outdoor cafes.

In the early afternoon, go with your car to the Uluru National Park (totally accessible) to visit the area of the monolith and the adjacent Cultural Center waiting for the sunset, to admire the fantastic change of the colors of the suggestive "rock" and of the boundless desert plain of the Australian Outback.
Return to the hotel. In addition to the classic restaurants of the Resort, remember the barbecue dinner at the Outback Pioneer, where you can buy meat and fish to cook it yourself! Even fun experience if you've never done it!

AYERS ROCK
Ayers Rock is the symbol of Australia par excellence. This mysterious sand monolith, located 500 km south-west of Alice Springs, is 350 m high and 7.5 km wide. It is not a rock, but the tip of a conglomerate of pebbles, the bottom of what was once an inland lake about 600 millions of years ago. For the Aborigines, the Rock is the "Sacred Place of Dreams", and there are cave paintings all around it. It is interesting to observe how the Rock drastically changes color depending on the light and the weather: shades ranging from red to purple, up to total darkness that determines the fall of the night. Few people know that it was discovered by William Gosse in 1873 (the year before Ernest Giles exchanged it in the distance for a hill!) and dedicated to the prime minister of the time, Henry Ayers. A short distance from the monolith, on the borders of the Uluru Park, there are also the Olgas Mountains (partially accessible), a series of 36 magnificent natural domes, considered the result of centuries of wind and rain erosion. Their Aboriginal name Kata Tjuta means the Place of Many Heads. The theory tells us that probably the Olgas were once a single huge monolith - larger than Ayers Rock - transformed and divided into many rounded mountains following natural phenomena. The trip to Alice Springs involves around 445 kilometers, so it is advisable to make a stop in the roadhouses located on the sides of the main road and at the panoramic observation point of Mount Connor, from which you can admire wide views of the salt lakes. Before arriving in Alice, you can leave the main road to visit the scenic cliffs and steep sandstone walls of the Rainbow Valley, in the mountains of the James Ranges. The multicolored bands that give this "Valley of the Rainbow" its name, are particularly beautiful when hit by the rays of the early morning and late afternoon sun.

Tourist category hotel. Located in the heart of Todd Street, the main street of Alice Springs, close to the main shops and clubs. Alice Springs, a town with just 40,000 inhabitants, is located in the center of the Australian continent like an oasis in the desert, surrounded by rocky mountains and immersed in an arid landscape with indescribable colors, truly spectacular. The population has a strong Aboriginal presence, not surprisingly, the center offers numerous art ateliers where you can buy splendid and expensive Aboriginal paintings, but also more affordable souvenir shops linked to the traditions of the ancient inhabitants of these areas. To visit The Old Telegraph Station with its museum and the history of the pioneers who conquered the Red Center connecting, with the telegraph first and the railway then, Adelaide to Darwin. The Desert Park opened in March 1997 and located on the slopes of the Mac Donnel Ranges is a spectacular introduction to the desert environment and its typical fauna.

DARWIN
Darwin is a tropical city whose origin dates back to the times of the Gold Rush, when it became a destination for hundreds of people looking for luck. Located by the sea in the far north of Australia, it is the capital of the Northern Territories and Aboriginal culture par excellence and owes its name to the great naturalist Charles Darwin, who discovered the bay in 1839. Its modern and functional structure is the result of the almost total reconstruction that took place around the 1980s, after the terrible typhoon "Tracy" that practically zeroed it in 1974. Lush mango and banyan trees, tropical flowers and the cosmopolitan origin of its population contribute to making it a city full of charm. Few historic buildings have resisted the violence of the cyclone: among them the Old Navy Headquarters (headquarters of the navy), Fannie Bay Jail (1883) and Brown's Mart, the oldest building in the center (1885). Of great cultural interest is the Northern Territory Museum Of Arts and Sciences, which houses various Aboriginal art galleries and archaeological finds. For shopping enthusiasts, we recommend a tour of the Mall in the center, where you can find the typical Akubra hats and the very comfortable Blundstone rubber boots, perfect for the Australian climate.
In the evening, a small cruise aboard the schooner Alfred Nobel: we are in a subtropical environment, warm and with unfailingly magnificent colors. Immediately after sunset, dinner based on local oysters and prawns will be served as appetizers. It will be followed by a formal barbecue dinner with delicious barramundi fish fillets, chicken and steaks with various salad garnishes. The Alfred Nobel is a superb 30-meter schooner built in the 1950s. Since then, its picturesque history has brought it across Australia with very different tasks: from ammunition ship to salmon fishing boat, to floating cabaret with the best Tasmanian cuisine. After a very expensive restoration that brought it back to the glories of its youth, now this schooner is serving Darwin and everyone can enjoy its graceful lines and the pleasure of sailing on a vintage boat. For those who want to experience the thrill of diving with a crocodile, we recommend a visit to the brand new Crocosaurus Cove, a hi-tech version of a reptile, very interesting.

N.B. Recommended route from April to December. The route first involves Katherine in order to have the "right time" to make visits to Litchfield and Katherine Gorge.

At the entrance of the park stands the village of Batchelor: you will also find a petrol station and supermarket. Also in Batchelor you can visit the Coomalie Cultural Center and the Butterfly and Bird Farm. After visiting Litchfield National Park continue to Katherine.

KATHERINE
About 3000 sq km of territory enclose the Edith Falls, excellent for a swim, and the Nitmiluk, the aboriginal name of Katherine Gorge. Katherine Gorge is a great way to meet some spectacular nature. The narrow and very long crack of rock is navigable from April to November. Suddenly we will find ourselves immersed in silence, broken only by the sound of some bird. The blue sky becomes more and more distant, while the shadow of the sheer walls makes the air even chilly. These are actually 12 different canyons separated from each other by rapids, spectacular during the rainy season, from November to April. At the Visitors Center you can find information on excursions, cruises and various activities (e.g. canoeing) linked to this splendid park.

A visit to Nitmiluk, the Aboriginal name of Katherine Gorge, a must location, spectacular enough to be chosen several times as setting of the famous Crocodile Dundee films. You too can try your hand by renting canoes on site. Continue to the Kakadu National Park. Overnight in Cooinda, the starting point for excursions to the Yellow Waters and Kakadu Gorge.

Continue to visit the Aboriginal Cultural Center and the Mirray Look Out. Then along the path, which crosses the whole park, stop at the two areas of the cave paintings of Nourlangie and Ubirr Rocks. You can admire the cave paintings (accessible) and you can take the Yellow Water Cruise (the boat does not have access for wheelchairs but with the help of the staff you can get on) and take the panoramic tour with stops for photographs. For security reasons, however, they do not allow disabled people to board helicopters to go around the park. Expected arrival in Darwin in the late afternoon.
Visit of the city with its Botanical Gardens, Darwin Wharf, Fannie Bay prison, Darwin Harbor, Crocodylus Park, Charles Darwin Park. The listed attractions are all wheelchair accessible. Mindil Beach is only partially accessible.

Today you will reach Port Douglas. The itinerary that stretches along the coastal road called Captain Cook Highway is very beautiful. Winery, sugar cane plantations, rainforest on one side and long beaches and small bays on the other: Clifton Beach, Ellis Beach, Holloways Beach, Machans Beach, Oak Beach, Palm Cove, Pebbly Beach, Pretty Beach, Trinity Beach and Yorkeys Knob.
